SHORT ARTIST STATEMENT:
For me, the practice of the Artist is an expression of the edges of experience - the foggy areas of our awareness. Through exploration, the fog clears, the edges recede, and these areas become the domain of science.
I started painting at age of 8, time when my favorite artistic practice was tracing images of top models faces from magazines like Marie Claire, I would transfer these images to a regular white letter paper and then color it with my mom's make up, the figures were somewhat exaggerated, most definitely not your regular child's drawing where houses sing to happy smiling little clouds, and through the growing years of increasing awareness of beauty and power depicting my own images, this paradox has not only persisted but acquired a new lease in my painting as my experience reaches the clarity, the fogginess is finally gone.
My latest work is a recent examination of fashion and beauty with a strong female lead. I make use of turbulent colors and amorphous forms entwining in an french baroque environment that moves around the graceful yet strong female warriors, their birds, and their flowers; the Magnolias and wild Roses. I layer the shapes that shifts and morphs throughout time and space, using in abundance colors like turquoise and pinks. Through experience, I have prioritized the artistic resources that I think is imperative for painting the human figure. I don't tend to use models or photographs, always working from my imagination. I feel very confident in representing the human figure - redeeming the values of classical art from a contemporary perspective, being always open to change, and I am influenced by everything that moves me.
